Djembe Rope Calculator

Instructions:

  1. Select your preferred units (metric or imperial).
  2. Select the thickness of your rings (6 mm or 8 mm).
  3. Select the style of knot you want to use for the crown ring and bottom ring.
  4. Set the exterior diameter or circumference of the crown ring and bottom ring.
  5. Enter the number of loops you want to use.
  6. Set the length of the verticals.

You can now read off the lengths of rope you need for the crown ring, bottom ring, and the lacing.

The calculator includes an allowance for tying off the rope on the rings and the extra rope you will need for the Mali weave, so you do not need to add anything to the calculated lengths.

If you use a double-strand cow hitch on the top ring, you will need two strands of rope, each of the indicated length.

The knot spacing is shown below the rope length for the crown ring and bottom ring. You can tap the knot spacing buttons to get a list of knot positions (center-to-center) around the circumference of the respective ring.
